Ha this piece harkens to my “pre-intuitive” painting days. I started painting Abstract images of things I saw in nature or out and about when I was going about my daily life. I spent most of my life living in the Northeast and the Fall is so pretty there. I love when the leaves change color. I started painting watercolor around 2000, painting En Plein Air and realisim and I was terrible… I could not get it to feel or look the way I liked. Some artists are so good at it and I have several realism landscapes painted by other Artists that I love but that was not for me. When I tried Abstract Landscape I knew that was something I could paint and still have the feeling of pleasure from painting. Realism was too stressful for my Type A personality! This painting gives me just enough information for my brain to know its a tree in Fall, with the shapes and colors but didn’t make me crazy painting every leaf on the tree!
