Planetary Motion
Acrylic on wood panel with mixed media, 24” x 24” x 1.5”
I love Planetary Motions, the energy and the flow, this paiting feels alive. I feel like I am looking at the sky, at the solar system. The colors, the shapes and the feel of Aurora Borealis. Let this painting take you to another world. When you examine it closely you can see words written underneath the paint, wishes for peace and love. There are so many enticing layers to this piece everytime you look at it you will find a new area of interest.

This piece has great story. It started as a cobalt blue and green gold piece that had some interest to it but I could not figure out how to complete it after the underpainting and mark making were done. It sat for a couple weeks, I put it on the wall, looked at it and decided I could not see what it wanted to become. So I started over, I put some new colors and new marks on top of the blue and green and did some line work (circles) and found that the blue and green peaking out from underneath looked kinda cool but the gray and orange and dark blue on the top really stole the show. I posted this on FB and a painting friend loved it and called it “planets in motion”! I liked that concept and it does in fact remind me of a planetary scene. Its mystical and has such nice movement.
