Waterfall was one of my early Abstract Pieces and was accepted into a Juried Show at the Arts Center of Yates County in Penn Yan, NY while I was living full time in the Finger Lakes area of NY State. This mostly Monochromatic piece was one of the first where I was learning about layering and the effect that layers have on a painting and how they create a depth to a painting by showing hints of other things underneath the top layer. Having come from a watercolor background I did not learn much about layering. Acrylic was a totally different beast to wrangle with. My Art teacher at the time talked about how Acrylic paintings were more interesting with layers and how to employ the technique. I was very happy with this result and was excited to get this painting into my first Juried show! I love Blue and this painting is all about the color Blue. Five years later and I still love this painting.
